Hi everyone,
Last Saturday was the Earth hour. I didn't know

My husband suddenly started turning off all our electronics and told me about it. I think it was a very nice idea and I am happy we were part of it. So, I don't know if you guys knew or were aware, but we could turn off all our lights and electronics for one hour (8.30 to 9.30 pm) to show our support and help our planet for a bit. I would have liked to know before, so I could tell you all about it and maybe you could have been part of this movement (if you didn't know, of course). Anyways, we still got next year.

On other things; the US, it is really a fun place to be in. They say Latin Americans are very friendly. Well, I think people from the DC area, here in the US, are REALLY friendly and nice people. I find them a lot nicer than people from Mexico City. They are always willing to help and say hello and of course, there are exceptions, but in general, they are great. Unfortunately, immigrants are usually the opposite.

They tend to be in groups and by themselves and won't talk to anyone (usually). Actually, once they realize you are also not from the US, they open a bit more.

I am really amazed by the amount of people from other countries in here... REALLY amazed. I knew there were many... but seeing them... it is another thing.
DC is actually quite impressive. I have to admit that all this time I have always thought of the US, in terms of history, design and architecture to be below Europe. DC probes me wrong. Their Art Museums are impressive. Not only their collections, but also their buildings. The structure of the city is very nice and it is small enough to walk it in one or two days (like most European cities and very much unlike Mexico City, which is HUGE). There is a LOT to see here. There are the Smithsonian museums, which are all wonderful. Especially the Natural and Aerospace ones. The Kennedy Center (for concerts etc, which by the way, happen almost everyday, depending on the season). The Zoo, is one of my favorite places

And there is Georgetown, with its European architecture and the well known Exorcist's Stairs from Georgetown University.
I like it here a lot

the only thing I hate is the cold weather... which will turn into a very hot weather in summer, so it is alright. I could go on and on with the differences between the DC Area, Mexico City and southern Sweden, they are really interesting! But I might bore you all and make this journal a bit too long. Anyways, we got a new videogame! Valkyria Chronicles... addictive... really addictive.
Take care!
